At a time often defined by cynicism, this show's wholesomeness found an audience and turned it into a surprise hit. A Significant Investment On December 18th, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two additional seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to develop the story of the Campbell family. The show follows three polite teenage brothers whose central trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four main characters. "My deepest thanks go to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for the foreseeable future." Network Praise In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He shouted out the fans who discovered the show and championed its uniquely offbeat appeal. "All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Different Kind of Comedy When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about following this lovable family go about their everyday routines. Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his hope to move the comedy genre beyond its long-running cynical streak. He linked this trend to various cultural shifts. âThere's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,â said Cappa. âThe attitude is that we have to know weâre the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.â Future Seasons Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa could potentially be part of that comedic shift.
