Spurs Open to Selling Forward Welsh International Johnson.

Wales international Brennan Johnson
Brennan Johnson has earned forty-two times with the Welsh national team since his first appearance in 2020.

Tottenham Hotspur's European final match-winner Brennan Johnson is facing an unclear situation at the club amid increasing Premier League attention in the attacker.

It is understood that Tottenham, while not actively looking to part with the Welsh international, are receptive to a potential departure should they receive a suitable offer.

Crystal Palace are currently the side most advanced in their interest for Johnson, but a number of sides are said to be keeping tabs on his status with interest.

Last Campaign of Contrasts

Johnson was Tottenham's top top-flight goalscorer last season with 11 goals, and etched his name in club history by netting the decisive goal in their Europa League final victory over Manchester United in Bilbao, bringing to a close the club's 17-year wait for a trophy.

However, the exit of the previous manager and arrival of Thomas Frank has meant Johnson occupying more of a bit-part role in the current campaign.

The 24-year-old, has made only six top-flight starts under Frank.

Transfer Window Interest Mounts

Consequently, a number of clubs have been made aware of his potential availability before the winter transfer window.

Considering his lack of action and the prospect of a World Cup on the horizon with Wales, a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could benefit Johnson in January.

Johnson joined Tottenham from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £47.5m in the 2023 summer window and has registered 27 goals for the club.

The Situation

  • Brennan Johnson's future at Tottenham is currently in doubt.
  • Tottenham is not actively marketing him but would entertain bids.
  • Crystal Palace are at the front of the queue, with further Premier League clubs monitoring.
  • A change of manager has reduced his playing time this season.
  • The upcoming transfer window and international commitments could influence a January exit.
