Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.

Details of the Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

A senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

The charges come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Offences

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences include:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
