Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his position following a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the club's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from the top,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Failings and Player Reaction

The manager lamented recurring shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period of this nature with results like these.”

He concluded, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to the top, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
